BuzzFeed is seeking a freelance, in-house Copy Editor to work with its editorial team in New York City. They want a copy editor with strong skills and at least two years experience copyediting in an editorial role at a magazine or website. They also want an applicant familiar with AP and Chicago style guides, deadline-oriented, adaptable to new formats and comfortable with the fast pace of online publishing.

To explain the solid copyediting skills required, BuzzFeed asks the question, "Are you incensed by the misuse of homophones? Can you spot a typo with your eyes half-closed? Are you simply going to lose it the next time someone uses a hyphen instead of an em dash?"

The position includes copyediting BuzzFeed posts and videos. The copy editor will also assist with fact-checking and work with BuzzFeed writers, account managers and sellers. They also want to copy editor to have awareness of the BuzzFeed brand tone.
