Job Description: Ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism or Communications, six years of experience in public relations, communications, writing/editing or related field with three years experience in medicine or a science related field and web site design and publications experience

This position is responsible for the development and distribution of communications materials that will promote and advance the mission and goals of the Department of Imaging Physics, Experimental Imaging Cancer Research Program (ECIRP), Center for Image-Guided Cancer Therapy (CIGCT), Center for Advanced Biomedical Imaging Research (CABIR), and Division of Diagnostic Imaging.

KEY FUNCTIONS
  1. Manages division- and department-wide publications and communication production, review and submission.
  2. Identifies needs and develops content for various communications mediums (i.e., brochures, online distribution, etc.) to increase the visibility and awareness of the department and division activities, programs and initiatives.
  3. Generates ideas for communications strategies and develops promotional plans and materials.
  4. Researches and conducts interviews with the faculty and staff.
  5. Provides overall review, editing and rewriting of documents.
  6. Plans, directs and supervises publication and communications projects.
  7. Provides communication, document and report writing support to the Department Chair and Division Head.
  8. Develops distribution list (internal and external) to ensure appropriate parties are kept abreast of departmental/division and center activities.
  9. Manages content and provides maintenance of internal and external web sites.
  10. Work with the faculty to develop laboratory-specific web pages
  11. Liases with Internet Services
  12. Develops and coordinates in the development and production of departmental annual newsletter and progress report.
  13. Provides administrative oversight for the review, approval and submission of proposals and other documents.
  14. Serves as the expert resource to the department/division with regard to publications, applications and other communications.


Education: Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Communications or related field.

Experience: Six years of experience in public relations, communications, writing/editing or related field with three years experience in medicine or a science related field. With preferred degree, four years of required experience.
